Goteborg, Sweden/goteborg060Previous | Home | NextThe City Museum (Göteborgs Stadsmuseum; opened in 1861) is right across the street from the Självfallet beauty salon. It is located precisely where the auction and warehouse were located for the very lucrative Swedish East India Company, dating from 1731. Hence, when Scheele settled in his pharmacy, his neighborhood was a very noisy and busy one. The major wealth was made in importing tea, spices, china, and silk from Asia; Sweden in turn exported timber, iron, and farming and household implements. This view is from Kämpebron. |
